One of the first creators I’ve been in touch with was Axolote Gaming. Axolote gaming is renowned for their high quality beasts and his contribution to the OpenLock setting.
OpenLock is an open system that have made a lot of creators adapt into their designs so they interlock without any hassle.
I’ve asked Axolote Gaming a couple of questions to give better insight in who is behind the Axolote Gaming brand but also what goes into his designs.
First of all, tell me a bit about yourself:
“My name is Daniel Ehrli, I live in Mexico City and I have been enjoying Rpgs and Wargames since i was 12, my gaming group is comprised of my dearest friends.”
How did you join the RPG modeling community?
“I started modeling for my chosen career as an architect. However, I soon realized its potential to port this ability into my hobbies.”
Why did you start modeling beasts and terrain?
“I started because the potential and massive spread of 3d printing. From the get-go I saw that i could easily create a ton of ideas for myself, then I thought others might like my ideas too!”
How long does it take to model from start to finish?
“Depends greatly on the model! Tiles can take from 1 hour to 12 hours! If the base tile for the set is made it only has to be modified but starting a new set is very time consuming. Also depending on the texturing. Creatures take from 4-40 hours, again depending on compñexity. I hope to make a great bestiary one day.”
I’ve been in love with the Phoenix print ever since i got it and are very excited to see where the Axolote Gaming brand is going both with more beasts, that looks absolutely beautiful when printing in resin, but also with the OpenLock terrain that a lot of gamers have adapted for their RPG terrain needs.
Take a look here at some of the resin prints that I have made of Axolote Gamings beast designs. They are awe-inspiring and anyone would love to use them for their 28mm wargaming, no matter if you are into Dungeons and Dragons, Call of Cthulhu or Pathfinder, you will be able to find use for the beast that Daniel keeps pumping out on a regular basis.
